Cala Blanca

Beaches

The Cala Blanca in Menorca has a lovely white compact sandy beach. This beach is located close to most of the hotels in this area and is enjoyable day and nighttime. With several restaurants, bars, and beach clubs next to it, it offers everything you want for a beach holiday. The water is, most of the time, pretty quiet with few waves making it pretty family-friendly. One of the restaurants also has waterslides what makes it even more fun for kids on this beach.

Beach restaurant

On the other side of the resort, you will find the Playa Cala Santandria. This might also be worth a visit to get some change. The Cala Santandria is often quieter and less packed with tourists in the high season as it is not that well known.

Things to do

Some of the highlights of Cala Blanca:

  • Within a 10 km drive, you find the waterparks in Cala en Blanes and Cala ‘n Bosch. Both are really nice for families with small children or young teenagers. For adults, they are really not that interesting or big enough.
  • Ciutadella is nearby for some local culture or to enjoy one of the many boat trips that leave from the harbor. These will take you to some very nice beaches in the area.

Nightlife

Pub terrace in Cala Blanca

There are some bars in this area that stay open till late. Most of these can be found right next to the beach, which offers a lovely place to chill next to the water in the evening. There is also a tiny little shopping centre area in the centre of the resort that has some bars open till late. However, if you are expecting to go clubbing and dancing, this is not the place for you. Most of the nightlife is about having a few chill drinks in a relaxed setting.

Restaurants & bars

Tapas menu and prices

You will find most of the restaurants in Cala Blanca next to the beach and the little shopping area in the centre of town. There isn’t much variety but enough to have some for a week of holiday in this area.

Menorca airport to Cala Blanca

Cala Blanca is located on the other side of the island, then the airport, 49 km away.

  • Taking public transport I would not advise as you will first have to take one to Mahon, then Ciutadella and then another one to Cala Blanca.
  • A shuttle is a more easy option and costs about the same as all the busses added up at 11 euros.
  • Taxi’s start at 58 euros but cost more on the weekends or evenings.

You can find more info and the companies I would advise using right here.

Is Cala Blanca the right holiday destination for you?

With two beaches to choose from and everything within walking distance, the resort for Cala Blanca is a good holiday destination for families with young children who like to spend time on the beach. There isn’t much variety of things to do here, but if you are looking for a place that is not too busy and where you can chill… this could be a good destination. Ciutadella is also only 2-3 km away if you want a change of scenery or some culture.
