Paguera

Beaches

Paguera has a nice variety of different beaches.  I like that most of these beaches still feel pretty natural and not overly developed, with loads of restaurants next to them.  It feels like the authentic Mallorca from many years ago with a German touch.  Also, in this area, they do an excellent job of keeping the cars and traffic away from the beaches for a relaxed and chill setting.  All the beaches have lovely white soft sands, shallow waters and few waves… so ideal for families with small kids.

People walking next to the beach of Paguera

The main beach here, the Playa Paguera, is the most commonly visited and the busiest. However, if you are looking for a more quiet setting at the peak of summer, have a look at the Playa Troya, or if you don’t mind a bit of a hike first, the Cala Fornells beach is worth a visit just outside of the resort.

Hotels

In Paguera, there are loads of excellent hotels.

Nightlife

Paguera doesn’t have many clubs but more relaxed nightlife.  Next to the beach, you will find many great drinks and cocktail places with some relaxing music overlooking the beach, ideal for enjoying the sunset in this area.  There are also some beer gardens more towards the centre of the town and a little strip to explore where no traffic is allowed at night.

The main nightlife in this area of Mallorca is in Magaluf if you want to go clubbing, about 8 km away and easy to reach with a taxi.

How to get to Paguera

From the Palma Airport in Mallorca (PMI), a direct bus will take you to Paguera without having to transfer onto another bus first in Palma.  If you haven’t made any previous plans, this bus is an option, but I would still advise booking a shuttle before online.  The shuttles from the airport have many advantages, including that you will be dropped off at the hotel and not some random bus stop.  If travelling with 4 people, a taxi might be your best option.  A taxi will cost 46 euro in the daytime and 53 euro at night and on weekends.

Here, you can find more information about bookings taxis and shuttles online and the companies I would advise you to use.

Restaurants

In Paguera, you will find many excellent restaurants next to the beach but also further in town.  Many of these offer both Spanish and a more German/Dutch style cuisine that many seem to enjoy in this area.  Many of these places might not be easy to find right away when visiting for the first time, so make sure to have a look around to find the large variety of restaurants in the area.

Shopping

Most of the season, the main street here is closed off from traffic in the evening what makes for a great shopping street.  There is also a nice variety of shops with clothing and accessories for all budgets.  There is also a weekly market in Paguera. The market is primarily food and clothing, but you can also find Mallorquin pastries and crafts here.

Things to do near Paguera

The main things to do in this area of Mallorca you will find in Magaluf.  One of these is the Western Water Park, best visited on Saturday. Also, the Pirates Show in Magaluf is great for catching a show, and the Katmandu is an ideal rainy day option.
