Where to stay in Fuerteventura Without a Car

Corralejo is the best destination for a great holiday in Fuerteventura without a car for those who want to see and do lots of things nearby, like the Acua Water Park. Caleta de Fuste also has lots to do in the resort and is more centrally located on the island, making it easier to explore the island more. If you want to explore lots of the island without a car but instead want to use public transportation, then Puerto del Rosario is ideal.

The best and worst places to have a holiday in Fuerteventura without a car ranked
This is an overview of the best and worst holiday areas to stay in Fuerteventura without a car. They are alphabetically ranked by category: green is ideal, orange is okay, and red is better to avoid to experience Fuerteventura to the fullest without a car.

Corralejo

Corralejo is the most complete holiday destination in Fuerteventura. What do I mean by that? It has a bit of everything, from multiple beaches to many restaurants, bars, shops, attractions, water sports and activities. Also, for those who love the nightlife, this area is excellent as there is also a small clubbing area here and lots of live shows and performances each night. While this area offers everything tourists are looking for, it does not feel overly touristy as there is also a pretty big local population living here among the tourists.

Since there is so much variety here, this area is excellent for families, adults, couples and groups of friends visiting Fuerteventura.

  • About 5 different beaches are within walking distance from most places in the resort.
  • The beautiful Grandes Playas beach is less than 10 minutes away by bus.
  • Many bus excursions leave from here each day.
  • The Acua Waterpark is located in the back of the resort.
  • Easy boat trips from the marina to Lobos Island and the neighboring Lanzarote.
  • There are some bus connections to popular nearby places, but it is not a good place for those who want to discover the South of Fuerteventura, as this is about 100 km away and will take almost 2 hours by bus.
  • It is about 40 km from the airport, so booking a seat on the shuttle bus or a taxi in advance is best.

Barcelo Corralejo Sands is a great family holiday hotel, especially for younger children. Everything is within walking distance, including a bus stop. H10 Ocean Dreams is an excellent hotel for adults and couples in a great location close to shopping, restaurants, and nightlife.

Caleta de Fuste

Caleta de Fuste is a popular holiday destination with many restaurants, hotels and bars. The resort has two great beaches with lots of fun activities like kayaking, jet skiing and pedal boats. The La Guirra beach is in my opinion the best, but it is easy to walk between the 2 beaches here. For those who like the nightlife, there are plenty of fun pubs and bars with a friendly atmosphere and a mostly family-friendly focus. A few nightclubs stay open till late.

Caleta de Fuste is a good option for families with children, especially older children, but it is also popular with adults because of several excellent adults-only hotels in this area.

  • Because of its central location on the island, it is well-suited to exploring both the North and the South.
  • A large golf area is located here.
  • There is a pretty good connection to public transport, but there are better options on the island for this.
  • You can join many boat or jet ski trips from the local marina.
  • Traffic-free beach promenade, so it is easy to walk.
  • Multiple bus tours leave from here each day to popular destinations all over the island.
  • Since it is close to the airport, it is easy to get here without a car, by taxi or by pre-booking a seat on the shuttle bus for only 5 euros.

Broncemar Beach Suites is great for a family holiday, close to the main bus station, beach, and all the restaurants. The Ereza Mar is an excellent budget-friendly option for adults, and the Barcelo Fuerteventura Royal Level Family Club is a more luxurious option next to the beach.

Puerto del Rosario

Puerto del Rosario, the capital of Fuerteventura, is a great place for a budget-friendly, more authentically Spanish or adventurous holiday. While this is not a popular holiday destination as there are no big hotels here, it is excellent for those looking for a budget holiday and wanting to rent a room or apartment. It even has some beautiful beaches. Also, restaurants and drinks are much cheaper here than in many of the more popular holiday destinations on the island. It is also one of the best places on the island to try authentic Spanish tapas and foods.

This area is great for solo travellers, adults and young couples looking for adventure and authenticity. I would not advise going here with young children as there is not much for them to do here compared to Fuerteventura’s more popular holiday destinations.

  • The bus terminus in the back of Puerto del Rosario has buses that take you to all destinations on the island without having to transfer.
  • Because the capital is not very big and everything is within walking distance.
  • A traffic-free beach promenade connects the 2 beaches.
  • Ideal for those who want to explore a lot of the island by bus because of its central location on the islands and the big bus terminus.
  • Less than 2 km from the airport, so easily reached by bus or shuttle bus.
