Los Gigantes

Beaches

People on the Los Gigantes beach

The beach at Los Gigantes is one of the most often mentioned in holiday guides as the “must-see” of Tenerife, but in all honesty, it’s a nice beach, but Tenerife has many nicer ones.  Also, it’s pretty tiny, so that it can get a bit crowded, and from most of the hotels in this area, it is pretty hard to get to. But don’t worry because there are plenty of other lovely beaches in this area and natural pools that are great for taking a dip into the ocean.

Nightlife

The Los Gigantes area is part of a more extensive resort, including Puerto de Santiago and Playa la Arena.  The Los Gigantes area is mainly a foods and drinks place and doesn’t have clubs or much nightlife. If you want more bars open till later in the evening, you will find most of these more in the Puerto de Santiago area, but even these have a family-friendly feel.

Restaurants & bars

Main square and church in Los Gigantes

In the town area of Los Gigantes, you will find many restaurants near the church; these are the easiest to get to from most hotels and are aimed mainly at tourists looking to eat out.  Further down in the resort, near the harbour, you will find many traditional Spanish restaurants and many fresh fish places.

Things to do near Los Gigantes

My best advice, rent a car as I did. Los Gigantes is a nice place but far away from everything Tenerife offers, and public transport connections are not great. So renting a fully comprehensive car for around 10 euros a day is a great deal.
