Playa de Muro

Playa de Muro in Mallorca is an excellent choice for a relaxing beach holiday destination for you and your family. Especially with babies, toddlers and young children as teenagers might like neighbouring Puerto de Alcudia even better.

Best family holiday hotels in Playa de Muro
€€€ – Iberostar Playa de Muro has everything you expect in a great family holiday hotel, like a kids pool with a playground and lots of day and nighttime entertainment. But most of the hotels in this list have these. The main reason for choosing this hotel is that it is in an ideal location next to the beach but still close to all the shops, bars, restaurants and things to do and see.
€€€ – Zafiro Bahia is located further towards the quieter part of Playa de Muro, near the nature reserve. This hotel has many great pools for children, babies, toddlers, teenagers and parents and is next to an excellent natural beach.
€ – Viva Blue and Mar Hotels Playa de Muro Suites are also excellent family holiday hotels, but they are not located directly next to the beach but a 100-meter walk from the beach. This also means that you get most of what the other hotels have on this list, like fun kids pools, entertainment and shows, but at a more budget-friendly price. Mar hotels Playa de Muro Suites is perfect for a young family with a baby who primarily want to relax.

Puerto de Alcudia

Puerto de Alcudia is a better choice if you are looking for a bigger and busier holiday destination in Mallorca with more to see and do. This resort in Mallorca is great for children of all ages because there is so much variety and things to see and do, but it might be a bit too big and busy for those with babies or toddlers in strollers.

  • A waterpark, horse ranch and karting track are all located in this area.
  • Funfairs, trampolines, gaming arcades.
  • Lots of watersports options at the beach, lakes and the canals going through the resort, like wakeboarding, kayaking and boat rental.
  • Many boat trips leave from the marina to explore the coastline or go to Formentor Beach.

Best family holiday hotels in Puerto de Alcudia
€€€ – Zafiro Palace Alcudia is one of the newer and most modern family hotels in Mallorca. This hotel has a grand and luxurious feel. It has excellent amenities and entertainment for families with children and teenagers clubs for all ages. If you want, you can even have your own private swimming pool next to your room. This hotel is close to the marina with many excellent restaurants but also offers an all-inclusive option.
€ – Zafiro Tropic is more in the centre of Puerto de Alcudia, still walking distance from the marina but also closer to the beach. It also has many excellent amenities and pools for children and adults but on a smaller scale than Zafiro Palace Alcudia. Of course, there is also lots of day and nighttime entertainment here. If booked early enough, this hotel is very budget-friendly and great value for money.
€ – Club Mac has undergone an incredible transformation over the last few years. It used to be a bit of a joke with the local population and tourists, but now it is no longer after its transformation and upgrade. This hotel is excellent if you like big, all-inclusive club hotels with lots to see and do. It now offers fantastic value for money for those families travelling on a budget, mainly because you get free access to the Hidropark Alcudia waterpark next to the hotel.

Cala Bona

Cala Bona is great for those looking for a tranquil holiday destination that has remained pretty authentic. While this area is excellent for babies, toddlers, and children up to 12, anyone older than that might prefer the neighbouring Cala Millor, which has much more to see and do.

  • Beaches with shallow waters and small waves protected from the sea. Ideal for babies and young children.

Best family holiday hotels in Cala Bona
€€ – Protur Bonaire Aparthotel is excellent for a family holiday with lots of sports fields, mini clubs, day and nighttime entertainment, and great kids pools for children of all ages.
€ – Hipotels Cala Bona Club and Grupotel Mallorca Mar are also excellent if you want a cheaper option.

Cala Millor

Cala Millor is a big and busy resort located directly next to Cala Major, offering everything you could want for a family holiday. Older children and teenagers will very much enjoy this area.

  • Large selection of restaurants to choose from.
  • Family-friendly nightlife with many live shows and bands in the evenings.
  • Safe seaside promenade with plenty of bars and restaurants and no traffic allowed.

€ – Marins Playa, located in the middle of Cala Millor and Cala Bona gives you the best of both. In the hotel, you find everything for an excellent family holiday. Since this hotel is one of the smaller ones on this list, it provides a nice and cosy feel compared to some of the bigger ones. This hotel is especially great for families with babies or young children.
€€ – Hipotels Cala Millor Park is entirely on the other side of Cala Millor. Close to restaurants, bars, shopping, the beach and much more. This hotel has a great pool but no kids pool. This is one of the reasons I would advise it more for older children and teenagers.



Palma Nova

This area is the best for those families who want lots to see and do in the resort and nearby and like to visit amusement parks and attractions during their holiday. Older children and teenagers will enjoy and get the most out of this area, but it might be a bit overwhelming and busy for babies and toddlers.

  • 3 different soft sand beaches with calm waters to choose from.
  • The most extensive minigolf course on the island, Golf Fantasia, is located here, with 3 different 18-hole courses.
  • One of the largest selections of restaurants on the island, including everything from fast food to all-you-can-eat restaurants to oriental cuisine to exclusive upscale dining.

Not only is the hotel great for families, but you also get free access to the waterpark and Katmandu Park, which have many different and unique things to do, see, and experience.
€€€ – Zafiro Palace Palmanova is the biggest, newest and most luxurious family hotel in Palma Nova. If it fits within your budget, it is definitely one I can advise.

Cala Mesquida

Cala Mesquida is also a great holiday destination for families, but there are only 3 hotels here, which is about it. Outside the hotels, there is not much to do here, but luckily, the hotels here are huge and offer pretty much everything you could wish for. Therefore, this area is still great for families with children of all ages.

  • A natural golden sand beach surrounded by nothing but peaceful dunes and mountains.
  • Lots of activities and entertainment in the hotels.
  • Horse riding nearby.
  • Cala Ratjada is nearby if you want more variety or a change of scenery.

Best family holiday hotel in Cala Mesquida
€ – Viva Cala Mesquida Resort and Zafiro Cala Mesquida are both excellent family holiday hotels and similar. Both have many restaurants, great day and nighttime entertainment, many different pools and excellent all-inclusive. These hotels offer a lot and are great for babies, children and teenagers. Viva Cala Mesquida is closer to the beach, but the difference is not much.

Bonus tips for perfect family holidays in Mallorca

  • Mallorca is the most family-friendly holiday destination in the Spanish Islands and has the largest selection of family hotels. Iberostar, Zafiro and Viva hotels are the islands’ leading hotel groups for family holidays. While I only mentioned a few of them in this list, you can generally expect them to be great all over the island.
  • Mallorca’s best activities, parks and attractions are near Palma, the capital. If you want to explore and visit many attractions and amusement parks, booking somewhere near here, like Palmanova is best.

  • The Mallorca airport taxis only accept 4 passengers and rarely have child safety seats. It is best to reserve your taxi or shuttle bus before arriving as the prices are generally the same or cheaper as at the airport, but you also get better service.
