Playa del Cura

Playa del Cura is a pretty small holiday destination in Gran Canaria ideal for those who enjoy relaxation. The beach is quiet with a relaxed atmosphere. The Tauro beach next door is even more relaxing and has softer golden sand. The choice of restaurants and bars is limited, but there are a few.

Beaches

Playa del Cura beach has a relaxed vibe. With no cars coming anywhere close to it, it is ideal for a relaxing holiday. While the beach itself is not the most picturesque, with grey sands and some rocks, they are changing this by adding the typical golden sands people love in some parts of the beach. Playa del Cura beach does not have bars, shops, or restaurants next to it, which adds to that relaxed vibe, but it also means you need to walk to the local shopping centre if you need any of these.

If you want that more typical, picturesque beach, or a change of scenery, the Playa del Tauro, just a 2-minute walk away, has it for you. With lovely soft golden sands and no big hotels or buildings next to it, this beach offers a more natural feel.

Where to stay in Playa del Cura

Playa del Cura is pretty small, so location-wise, where you stay is not that important, as everything is within walking distance. Just keep in mind that this is a hilly resort, which can be a challenge for some people in wheelchairs or prams. Make sure to look at the location before booking. Also, since this area is not that well-known, it is often a good place to find budget-friendly accommodation.

  • H10 Costa Mogan: The most modern hotel in Playa del Cura for an adults-only relaxing holiday next to the best part of the beach.
  • Ocean Beach Club: An excellent option for a family holiday next to the beach with a mostly Scandinavian audience.
  • Riviera Vista: Amazing, relaxing holiday with views over the Atlantic Ocean from high upon the hill and access to the beach by private elevator.
  • Idyll Suites: Ideal if you want a relaxing, adults-only holiday with large suites and a cosy, personal vibe.

  • Playa de Amadores: Don’t mind walking a bit further, then Playa de Amadores is another excellent beach nearby with many more restaurants and floating bouncy castle.
  • Puerto Rico: This is a larger holiday destination nearby. For lots of nightlife, activities, restaurants, or shopping, make sure to go here.
  • Golf: The Anfi Tauro golf course is an excellent 18-hole course located about 1 kilometre away.
  • Bus: While there is not much to see or do in Playa del Cura, there is an excellent bus line that can easily get you to beaches and places along the coast.
  • Stars: At night, if you go to the hilltops of Playa del Cura on a clear night, you can actually see quite a few stars because there is minimal light pollution.

Restaurants

Playa del Cura is pretty small, so there are only a few smaller restaurants in the shopping centre at the back of the resort. If you want more choice and variety, the Playa de Amadores beach has many more restaurants and is not that far away by taxi or can be walked to.

Nightlife

Playa del Cura is possibly one of the least interesting places for active nightlife. There are just a few places in the local shopping centre, but that is about it. So ideal for relaxation and early nights. A taxi to Puerto Rico is needed for a lively night out.
